To effectively sell a high-end product such as a house, a genuine connection between the one shopping for a home, in this case known as the home seeker, and the one selling the house, in this case known as the realtor, has to be created. This is because the buyer needs to make a decision that’s largely dependent on the seller’s pitch and the seller needs to have a product that fully meets the buyer’s needs. Both parties have therefore got to be very sincere throughout this process: the buyer has to lay out his/her specific needs and the seller has to outline everything that the product offers. Considering the fact that buying a house is a costly affair, the seller has to be willing to customise some features of the house to fully satisfy the new homeowner, or otherwise lose that sale.

Below is a step-by-step guide to a successful process:

  1. Lead Generation – finding those seeking to buy a house. This is done by the realtor. Most of the times, the home seeker sets out to look for his/her dream house. The realtor must therefore position his/her product well on the shelf (a place where it’s visible e.g. online advertising, Showhouse at site, activations, etc.)
  2. Lead Qualification – among your findings, narrow down those who fit your product i.e their needs (budget, location, size, etc.) versus your offer (price, size, features, amenities, etc.). A lot of activity lies here. This includes: site visits, to and fro negotiations, lawyer to lawyer representation, until a common ground is finally reached.
  3. Close – deal or no deal. Sale or no sale. Seal or no seal.

Our bodies are the houses on sale, our spirit-man is the realtor and God is the one seeking a home to come and dwell in. Jesus Christ is the Lawyer (Advocate) representing both sides in the entire process.

Our spirit man is hungry for something deeper thus attracts spiritual leads whenever we seek for answers (lead generation).

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.Hebrews 11:6

We come across very many interpretations of the answer (different religions). God, being the one drawing us to Himself, softly communicates to us (through the Holy Spirit) His need to dwell in us thus what He requires us to do so that He May come and make our hearts His home. We end up settling for that which we feel is the solution (lead qualification), based on our values, beliefs, etc. We lay ourselves bare before this Lead (God), asking Him what changes need to be made to make His stay in our hearts pleasant. As the realtor, we should be willing to make those changes God recommends, since all of them are within His budget (His Son dying for us on the Cross). The features of our the house (our hearts desires) begin to mirror God’s fruit and gifts. The amenities of the house (what we do and where we go) begin to line up with God’s purpose for our lives.

The Home Seeker came already convinced about purchasing the house (For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God 1 Peter 1:18-19). He even paid for it way in advance (the Lamb was slain before the foundation of the worldRevelation 13:8). His budget is the Blood of Jesus, His location is your heart and His size is all of you – your everything. The Advocate (Jesus) has already put a seal on the offer. He knows what’s best for His client since He was involved from the onset.

Is your house still available for sale? Are you yet to seal the deal? Allow me to pray with you. Say, “Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
