That Taut Feeling

Dense Thoughts, Tough Questions,
Not A Coincidence But A Joyous Launch.

It’s the 28th day of the month. This date is synonymous to bill-payments-reminder-day. You are woken up in the morning by a preset alarm on your mobile phone that reads ‘to pay mortgage’. You begin the day by spending some Quiet Time in prayer, but there’s this continuous annoying beep that interrupts your soaking; it’s the noise made by the electricity token machine when your units are about to run out.

Before you’re done, the door bell rings. Usually you do not receive any visitors early in the morning but since the water company realized that most guys leave their houses early so as to beat the traffic jam, they decided to be sending their agents much earlier; that they may register the readings on the water meters. This is a sign of an e-bill about to be sent to you.

You proceed to the shower, just to be stopped midway by your House Manager informing you that she’s not able to prepare your Spanish omelette just as you like it because the gas is finished; your child tagging on you, reminding you of the school trip you’re yet to make payments for! This is where you gasp out loud, ‘I’m finished!’ No, you’re not. Stay calm, breath in, breath out.

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Aha! There goes a timely Word from the Holy Spirit. He’s brought you back to a stable mindset. Your focus has now been redirected to the right place. He says to you, “Consider it nothing but Joy, …whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], Lacking In Nothing.” James 1:2-4 [AMP].

Now that you know that you lack nothing, you’re ready to face the day and everything that comes with it. The joy you have chosen to consider, becomes your StrengthNehemiah 8:10. The strength enables you to:

There you go! All you need to do is shift the focus from the nagging need and towards the All Sufficient One. Spend your time giving thanks for everything He has done and is continuing to do, as opposed to grumbling over the pending tasks. Keep reminding yourself over and over again that, furthermore, you are not yours, but His.

You are God’s responsibility,
The apple of His Eye;
You are God’s point of unity,
Where all that you need lies.

The aim of things all happening at the same time is not to overwhelm you but to remind you that in this world, you cannot make it without God – John 15:4-5.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for your strength that comes to replace this taut feeling with unfathomable strength from You by the Power of the Holy Spirit and in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

A Jack of All Trades And A Master of All!

A Glorious Discovery!
My Roots.
Am I a doctor? No. I’m more than one. Every time I meet the sick, I get the urge to lay my hands on them and through my obedience, Christ heals them.

“…they shall lay hands upon the sick, and they shall be healed.” Mark 16:18b

Am I a teacher? No. I’m more than one. Spending time reading the Word and in fellowship with God makes me wiser and wiser thus able to impart knowledge to others.

“The Law of the LORD is perfect, restoring life. The testimony of the LORD is steadfast, making foolish people wise.” Psalm 19:7 – ISV

Am I a linguist? No. I’m more than one. The moment I allowed the Holy Spirit to fill me, I began to speak in new languages.

“These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.” Mark 16:17 – NLT.

Am I a heckler? No. I’m more than one. When I Think about the Lord, How He saved me, how He raised me, How He filled me, with the Holy Ghost. How He healed me, to the uttermost, makes me wanna Shout! Hallelujah! (Hillsong United – When I Think About The Lord)

Am I a dancer? No. I’m more than one. God has turned my mourning into dancing. He has lifted my sorrows.

“You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,” Psalm 30:11 – NLT.

Am I an electrician? No, I am more than one. I not only give solutions to power failure problems, but supply the whole earth with electricity!

I am the Light of the world; Like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 – NLT.

Am I an aquatic centre? No. I’m more than one. I flood the Nations with my overflow that’s brought about by my belief in Jesus Christ.

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'” John 7:38 – NASB.

Am I a mason? No. I’m more than one. As I encourage others, I am building them up.

“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – ESV.

Am I a magician? Far from it! I’m more than one. Everything I touch, prospers; Everything I set out to do, as led by the Holy Spirit, excels.

“The LORD your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand,… For the LORD will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers,” Deuteronomy 30:9 – ESV.

Who am I? A believer! All I have to do is believe. I believe in God the Father, I believe in God the Son, I believe in God the Holy Spirit. All that’s needed is a partnership between God and I. Nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37

Believe and you will receive,

Believe and He will reveal Himself to you;

Believe and you will achieve,

All that He has already purposed in you.

Only Believe!

Prayer: Lord, Thank You for enabling me to be all that I ever want to be. Father, help my unbelief. This I ask in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ and by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Music Corner:

Are you a believer? If not, I invite you to say this simple prayer: Dear God,
I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, feel free to contact me and I will guide you as Christ guides me. God bless you. You’re officially a jack of all trades and a master of all in Jesus Name!

The Peculiar Artist

The Greatest Innovations in the World!
Spectacular!
…A Peculiar People From Above.

“What are you doing?” I asked as he keenly painted very tiny black dots within a red figure. He had just switched from a big brush to a smaller one. This man lived in a house located way above other houses, what you could term as top floor or better still, an attic.

Slowly but surely, the artist completed his drawing and out popped a ladybird, one so beautiful and full of life. It lingered a bit, and finally flew away. You should have seen the look on my face! Never in my thirty something years on planet earth had I witnessed anything close to this: simply unbelievable!

“Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him” Proverbs 8:30 (NASB)

A new sheet was open. This time the theme was black and white, as opposed to the previous colored painting. The artist drew the back side of a man in a split of a second! He was done even before he began. While I still marveled at his immeasurable speed, he embarked on inserting trendy detail on this man’s haircut. Wow! You should have seen how much concentration he put on every stroke, every dot, every cut. As soon as he was done with this magnificent piece, the drawing came to life! Without turning to face us, the figure walked away, down an alley and round the bend. I was concerned, The artist wasn’t.

Face Turned Away.jpg

The artist then casually stood and asked me to follow him.

“Where are we going?” I asked. “Are you not going to teach me more?”

He answered, “It’s now time to rest. Follow me and I will teach you my kind of rest.”

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”….. “And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.” (Genesis 1:26; 2:2)

We left the studio, down a long flight of stairs and onto a road, kinda like a street within an estate. We came to this ordinary looking shack and a huge guy opened for us the door. Although we didn’t enter but conversed with him at his patio, I could tell that these two had a good relationship; a father – son relationship. The resemblance was also quite evident: very polished.

Father asked son, “How do you manage to remain composed, knowing that your little brother lives on the ground floor of your building, in the assembly of thugs, yet you still come to intercede on his behalf?”

“Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us.” Romans 8:34.

The artist began to cry as he was deeply moved. Immediately, another look – alike appeared, this time round, a lady. She embraced him for a very long time, leaving me in an awkward position. All I wondered was how I could help this family reconcile with their son, brother, friend. That is when I woke up! A dream so real, I can still see, hear, feel, smell and touch the encounter.

Here’s The Key:

Dream Analogy Reality
Canvas Universe
Attic Heaven
Ground Floor Earth
Artist/Son God The Word – Jesus Christ
Father God the Father
Lady God The Holy Spirit
Little Brother Lost Man
Me Saved Man

Prayer: Father, thank You for the clear reminder. Help us Oh Lord not to come to You with questions on why the world is the way it is, but rather teach us Your kind of rest. Forgive us for the times we have walked away from You after receiving our blessings. Teach us to walk in Your ways. As we are on earth, may we learn to do only the things that we see You do in heaven. Jesus we thank You for continuously interceding for us. You have remained faithful to us even after we abandoned your teachings (The Word). Holy Spirit, without You we cannot make it. You have been our Comforter (2 Cor 1:4), wiping our tears and holding us close. Thank You for leading us to the Artist. Thank You for the dreams and visions. Thank You for the spiritual gifts in whole. Here we are, ready to learn Your kind of rest. Father Lead us in the Name of Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior and by the Power of the Holy Spirit we pray and believe, Amen.

“For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and your sons will find compassion before those who led them captive and will return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate, and will not turn His face away from you if you return to Him.” (2 Chronicles 30:9)

Kenya’s Restitution

Superpower Revived
Re-run Equals Re-learn.
Speak Out!
Divine Elevation.

Kenya had turned away from God and followed after the heathens round about them. Because of this, the Lord’s voice was silenced, the remnants were scattered abroad as Kenya was not in a position to receive the Word of God and judgement was set.

Glory be to God for He gathered us to repent on behalf of the Land, that His glory may return to us. He has indeed accepted our sacrifice and this is what the Lord is now saying to Kenya:

….Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come…..I will even gather you (remnants of Kenya) from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I’ll give you the land… (Kenya). And they shall come and take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from there. And I’ll give them one heart, and I’ll put a new Spirit within you; and I’ll take the stony heart (tribalism and pagan practices) out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh (righteousness and brotherly Love): That they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people and I will be their God. (Ezekiel 11:16-20)

Brethren we repented and the Lord heard our sincere cry and saved us from the judgement that was upon this Land. It is now our responsibility as the remnant:

  • To propagate the Spirit of oneness.
  • To manifest brotherly Love.
  • To pray unbiased.
  • To occupy.

As we continue praying for Kenya, let us remember that the rerun is just but a very small prayer item as compared to God’s bigger picture. He has entrusted us with souls. The time has now come for Restitution!

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Security
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4

God – Ultimate Security

There are times when we feel as though we’re all alone. These are the times we wanna give up. Everything seems to be caving in on us. This is when I practice my 2 – 3 – 4 rule (Psalms 23:4 – The numbers are sequential thus easy to memorize). You could also term it as Hope, Step and Jump!

  • Step Out

Jump for Joy.jpg

What more security do we need? If a mere sparrow doesn’t end up in the wrong hands, how much more you and I? (Matthew 10:29) Focus on Him, the Author of our lives and all these other things shall become non – issues. Nothing is impossible with God. Go ahead! sign up for that task which seems difficult. He has gone before you. He has set angels to watch over you (Luke 4:10). There is light at the end of that tunnel you are in right now.  All you need to do is look up, go deeper and lift Him higher!

One Dream Giver-God of Second Chances

One thing’s for sure, a fresh start ain’t as easy as it sounds. I’m talking of beginning all over again. Be it a relationship, or a business, a life skill or a course, something you had mastered to the point of performing it with your eyes closed. The story of my life. I must say there are two ways to look at it. Either sit back and count your losses or rise up, dust yourself and find a way of getting back on the saddle. I definitely went for the latter. I repeat: it wasn’t easy.

The good thing about starting over is having a chance to better the closed chapter. If it involves a spouse, you appreciate him/her more, learning from the one who is no more. If it’s to do with business, you become wiser in picking your partners, saving the seed, re injecting the capital, signing contracts for safety reasons and so on.

a-second-chance2

God is serious when He says He knows your expected end. He is also serious when He says you shall eat the good of the land. God is serious when He says the works of your hands are blessed. No doubt, He was very serious when He made Himself your Paraclete. Most of all, He is the Author of second chances, proving this by taking your place on the cross so that you could live again! I’m forever grateful!

Surround yourself with visionaries. Completely disconnect yourself from those who made you fail, those who brought you down and those who don’t believe in you. You have no apologies to make to them. Care to dream. Manage the consequences of your past failures bravely and maturely. Learn from them and move on. Spend time with your loved ones. Go out of your way for a friend. Join a support group if you have to. Run for your life, if you can’t walk for a cause. If both are not possible, Keep Calm and Ogelea (@ogeleaafrica) – meaning, ‘Relax and take a swim’.

I’m not refuting the fact that sometimes I can be sad and blue when I remember the time invested in a relationship that went to the dogs, cash that I toiled for and lost to a swindler, career that was cut short for one reason or the other and even a relationship with God that was not nurtured to fruitfulness. All these feelings come but I have chosen not to have a pity party. Instead I have chosen to thank God that my second chance came in my youthful years; I have learnt to be slow but sure, thinker before leaper, and before I forget I have also learnt a lesson: not to judge people because it is neither my job description nor my business. On the contrary, I choose to use the same comfort I have received from my Father to comfort those going through a similar path as mine. ‘Hii maisha ni kusaidiana’ (you’re alive for the purpose of giving a helping hand).

There’s so much to live for, so much to celebrate, so much to party about, so much to be thankful for. Embrace the second chance you’ve got and make The Giver proud!
