Dense Thoughts, Tough Questions,
Not A Coincidence But A Joyous Launch.
It’s the 28th day of the month. This date is synonymous to bill-payments-reminder-day. You are woken up in the morning by a preset alarm on your mobile phone that reads ‘to pay mortgage’. You begin the day by spending some Quiet Time in prayer, but there’s this continuous annoying beep that interrupts your soaking; it’s the noise made by the electricity token machine when your units are about to run out.
Before you’re done, the door bell rings. Usually you do not receive any visitors early in the morning but since the water company realized that most guys leave their houses early so as to beat the traffic jam, they decided to be sending their agents much earlier; that they may register the readings on the water meters. This is a sign of an e-bill about to be sent to you.
You proceed to the shower, just to be stopped midway by your House Manager informing you that she’s not able to prepare your Spanish omelette just as you like it because the gas is finished; your child tagging on you, reminding you of the school trip you’re yet to make payments for! This is where you gasp out loud, ‘I’m finished!’ No, you’re not. Stay calm, breath in, breath out.
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
Aha! There goes a timely Word from the Holy Spirit. He’s brought you back to a stable mindset. Your focus has now been redirected to the right place. He says to you, “Consider it nothing but Joy, …whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], Lacking In Nothing.” James 1:2-4 [AMP].
Now that you know that you lack nothing, you’re ready to face the day and everything that comes with it. The joy you have chosen to consider, becomes your Strength – Nehemiah 8:10. The strength enables you to:
There you go! All you need to do is shift the focus from the nagging need and towards the All Sufficient One. Spend your time giving thanks for everything He has done and is continuing to do, as opposed to grumbling over the pending tasks. Keep reminding yourself over and over again that, furthermore, you are not yours, but His.
You are God’s responsibility,
The apple of His Eye;
You are God’s point of unity,
Where all that you need lies.
The aim of things all happening at the same time is not to overwhelm you but to remind you that in this world, you cannot make it without God – John 15:4-5.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for your strength that comes to replace this taut feeling with unfathomable strength from You by the Power of the Holy Spirit and in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
