The Peculiar Artist

The Greatest Innovations in the World!
…A Peculiar People From Above.

“What are you doing?” I asked as he keenly painted very tiny black dots within a red figure. He had just switched from a big brush to a smaller one. This man lived in a house located way above other houses, what you could term as top floor or better still, an attic.

Slowly but surely, the artist completed his drawing and out popped a ladybird, one so beautiful and full of life. It lingered a bit, and finally flew away. You should have seen the look on my face! Never in my thirty something years on planet earth had I witnessed anything close to this: simply unbelievable!

“Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him” Proverbs 8:30 (NASB)

A new sheet was open. This time the theme was black and white, as opposed to the previous colored painting. The artist drew the back side of a man in a split of a second! He was done even before he began. While I still marveled at his immeasurable speed, he embarked on inserting trendy detail on this man’s haircut. Wow! You should have seen how much concentration he put on every stroke, every dot, every cut. As soon as he was done with this magnificent piece, the drawing came to life! Without turning to face us, the figure walked away, down an alley and round the bend. I was concerned, The artist wasn’t.

Face Turned Away.jpg

The artist then casually stood and asked me to follow him.

“Where are we going?” I asked. “Are you not going to teach me more?”

He answered, “It’s now time to rest. Follow me and I will teach you my kind of rest.”

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”….. “And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.” (Genesis 1:26; 2:2)

We left the studio, down a long flight of stairs and onto a road, kinda like a street within an estate. We came to this ordinary looking shack and a huge guy opened for us the door. Although we didn’t enter but conversed with him at his patio, I could tell that these two had a good relationship; a father – son relationship. The resemblance was also quite evident: very polished.

Father asked son, “How do you manage to remain composed, knowing that your little brother lives on the ground floor of your building, in the assembly of thugs, yet you still come to intercede on his behalf?”

“Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us.” Romans 8:34.

The artist began to cry as he was deeply moved. Immediately, another look – alike appeared, this time round, a lady. She embraced him for a very long time, leaving me in an awkward position. All I wondered was how I could help this family reconcile with their son, brother, friend. That is when I woke up! A dream so real, I can still see, hear, feel, smell and touch the encounter.

Here’s The Key:

Dream Analogy Reality
Canvas Universe
Attic Heaven
Ground Floor Earth
Artist/Son God The Word – Jesus Christ
Father God the Father
Lady God The Holy Spirit
Little Brother Lost Man
Me Saved Man

Prayer: Father, thank You for the clear reminder. Help us Oh Lord not to come to You with questions on why the world is the way it is, but rather teach us Your kind of rest. Forgive us for the times we have walked away from You after receiving our blessings. Teach us to walk in Your ways. As we are on earth, may we learn to do only the things that we see You do in heaven. Jesus we thank You for continuously interceding for us. You have remained faithful to us even after we abandoned your teachings (The Word). Holy Spirit, without You we cannot make it. You have been our Comforter (2 Cor 1:4), wiping our tears and holding us close. Thank You for leading us to the Artist. Thank You for the dreams and visions. Thank You for the spiritual gifts in whole. Here we are, ready to learn Your kind of rest. Father Lead us in the Name of Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior and by the Power of the Holy Spirit we pray and believe, Amen.

“For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and your sons will find compassion before those who led them captive and will return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate, and will not turn His face away from you if you return to Him.” (2 Chronicles 30:9)

The Day of The Lord

Crisp, Clear and Concise.
The Final Trumpet.
Greatest Reprieve!
Closer To The End of The Earth.

Let’s begin by summarizing the 3 steps before eternity checks in:

  1. Creation: It all began with the creation story. Adam was created by God solely for the purpose of him worshiping God. He used to commune with God face to face. The idea was for him to fill the earth with the likes of him and his beloved wife  Eve. Unfortunately the devil managed to trick him (as well as his wife) and sin checked in, giving birth to death. They could no longer appear before God as they used to. Man lost authority over the earth to the devil. Sin brought a curse into the world. Every one born of Adam was therefore born with this decaying nature, destined to suffer and ultimately die.
  2. Redemption: Thanks be to God for He already had a plan (He always does). God knows the end from the beginning. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Knowing that everyone born of man could not save man from this eternal death, He sent Jesus Christ, born of His Spirit, blameless in all His ways, to save the world. That is why Jesus had to be born of a virgin: so that He doesn’t possess the blood of man, which is already defiled. Did you know that in the fetus’ blood does not mix with it’s mother’s blood? Read more on this here. He came and died, went to hell and won back the keys to life. He did it all for you and I. Hell was never created for any man to occupy. The Holy Spirit came after Jesus returned to the Father so that He may guide us into all Truth – showing us how to become more like Jesus, that we may show the world the Word that came to set us (them) free.
  3. Salvation: God created us with self will. He calls us, by His Spirit, to His own and gives us the final choice to make. Salvation undid the curse and brought a blessing into the world. The only way to enter the Kingdom of God once again is through accepting the Lordship of Christ: allowing the blood of Jesus to wash away our sins and His death to speak for us, that we may attain eternal life – a place with no disease, no sorrow, no war, no sadness, no devils, no heartache. A place we shall forever worship our Father and our God.

The day of the Lord is near: a day when Jesus, our groom, is coming for us, His bride, to forever dwell with Him in eternity. This day is drawing nearer and nearer with every passing day. Isaiah Chapter 13 describes this day vividly (I hope to come up with a movie on it one day). Let me summarize it: God has prepared His army by placing His eternal purpose in all who have accepted His call. By prayer, fasting, witnessing and living a God – Centred life, we advance the kingdom of God, and He in turn draws the world to Himself. Why so? Because this earth is passing away. Scientists have proven that the ozone is depleting, the water bodies are exceeding their boundaries, earthquakes are coming, etc. In short, creation is groaning for the manifestation of the Sons of God. (Romans 8:19). Great destruction is coming and it will consume every fallen thing that will be on earth then. The earth will be destroyed and a new heaven and a new earth will arise. Should we panic? Not at all! God’s got us covered.

Action Plan:

  • Let us walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16)
  • Let us speak boldly of the Gospel of Christ because it is the only power that can overcome the world. (Romans 1:16)
  • Let us go boldly to the ends of the earth because God is going with us and is giving us victory (Deuteronomy 20:4)
  • Let us do all that the Father tells us to do because everything works together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called by His name (Romans 8:28)
  • Let us gather together to pray and fast because it is the Lord mobilizing an army for war (Isaiah 13:4)
  • Let us remember to give God all the glory because He is the One causing us to triumph in His Name as we spread His Word – Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Thank you Lord for creating us, Thank You Lord for redeeming the world and saving us from death and into eternal life. Thank You for empowering us for the calling You have appointed us for. Thank You Holy Spirit for revealing Christ to us and guiding us in every step that we take. Lord You said, ‘Occupy till I come’. May our occupation be a fruitful one: winning souls, prospering in body and in soul, overcoming the evil one, doing what we see our Father in heaven do and making use of each and every resource you have made available to us, including social media.  I speak victory all round. I speak brotherly Love. I speak divine health. I speak salvation to every creature. I speak in the Name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Love’s Pursuit

The Greatest Pursuit.
Creation Reflecting The Creator.
Nature is one of God’s beautiful creations. Through nature, God is able to teach us, speak to us, and provide for us. In many ways has He made Himself known to man.

‘For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.’ Romans 1:20 (NLT).

Take a look at everything around you. Begin with the birds and examine their flight. Go to the fish and marvel at their existence. Proceed to the ecosystem and try figuring it out. Conclude with your precious life. He knew you even before you were conceived. That’s why He pursues you; to guide you on how to go about occupying this amazing earth.

Just ask the animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you. Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you. Let the fish in the sea speak to you.…. For the life of every living thing is in his hand, and the breath of every human being.’ – Job 12:7-10 (NLT).

It’s amazing to learn that amidst all these glorious and magnificent creations of God, you and I form the center of His Love. You are the apple of His eye.

‘For thus says the LORD of hosts, “After glory He has sent me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.’ – Zechariah 2:8.

Prayer Corner: Lord, thank You for loving us as You do, that You did not wait for us to draw nigh to You, but You showed Yourself in frail humanity; that You did not wait for us to cry out to You, but You Let us hear Your voice calling us. (Forever Grateful – Song By Juanita Bynum).

Thank You for stepping down, that we may step up,

Thank You for laying down, that we may be raised up;

Thank You for coming down, that we may climb up,

Thank you for pursuing Your own, that we may look up.

A Ripple Effect

The source of knowledge has evolved over the years. There was a time African children sat in circles while the elderly poured out generational stories that had educative messages. Women taught their girls how to cook, clean and make good wives as the men challenged the boys on leadership skills as well as providing for their homes. A people were known by their ways of living thus only limited to their ancestral skills and strengths. One was a parent to their children as well as a teacher, a doctor, a leader, and any other need that arose.

As time went by, the missionaries came to Africa and brought with them good things such as schools, hospitals, and so on. Africans were enrolled into these schools (both young and old) and were taught other ways of doing things, other languages, and most importantly, other religions. This began with basic day-to-day skills being imparted on them as well as knowledge in the use of handy tools for making work easier. With time and a period of many years, the system grew and was categorized into progressive clusters: pre – school, preparatory, high school, college, university, and so on. The higher the cluster, the more specialized it became. This has given birth to doctors, teachers, engineers, chefs, political leaders, coaches, drivers, lawyers, beauticians, etc. The key point to note here is that one could only go to one school per time and specialize in one area. For instance, once you attained the grade required for Medicine, you’d receive an admission letter to enroll into a university and as a boarder, spend a few years of your youth learning nothing but doctor – related units.

Now has come a time when the world has come to our finger tips via the World Wide Web! You need a food recipe? It’s a click away! You’re having pain on your lower back? The doctor is right there. You could call the number on your screen , get a prescription emailed and forward it to your nearest pharmacist, who is more than willing to do home deliveries! You feel fatter than fitter? Tune in to online Zumba sessions and even receive a personal trainer! All these, while taking a few online courses: one on Law, another on IT, and yet another on Home Management. To make it even better, you’re a Chat Support Agent for an online Magazine, a Proofreader for an online News website, a Telemarketer for an online Clothes Shop; all of which are streams of income. Can life get any better?

In like manner, God’s plan has been unfolding through various stages. There was a time God led His people through one individual: His Spirit would come upon the chosen one and he would decode God’s message and relay it to the people. These men were the only ones who had a direct relationship with God. They had to come from a priestly lineage. One had to confess his or her sins to these guys and they’d represent the people in the Holy of Holies. Can you imagine this only happened once a year! So if one had committed a sin that was going to defile the community, they had to be excommunicated until the next annual confession day. The ordinary man (one who wasn’t a priest) had no idea who God is. All he saw was what God did. I compare this with our first paragraph that talks about the elders training the children in the traditional African setup.

Then came a time when the Son of God came from heaven to earth. What was His main agenda? To take away the sin of the world, that we may approach God’s Throne. He, through the scriptures, has shown us how we ought to live, and therefore set a syllabus that prepares us for my next paragraph.

  • He is our School of Medicine – Matt 8:5-17 (He healed the sick),
  • He is our School of Law – 1 John 2:1 (He advocates for us when we sin),
  • He is our School of Diet – 1 Cor 11:23-34 (The Holy Communion),
  • He is our School of Bio – Chemistry – John 2:1-11 (He turned water into wine),
  • He is our School of Creative Arts – Matt 14:22-33 (He walked on water),
  • He is our School of Ecology – Matt 8:23-27 (He calmed the storm),
  • He is our School of Political Science – Matt 21:12 (He whipped the money changers),
  • And many more Schools, according to the needs thereof.

During this era, God taught man via illustrations and these were geographically limited to Jesus’ physical location, as my paragraph above that speaks of man having to do one course at a time.

Now has come a time when the Holy Spirit, once we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, comes in us and makes our hearts His home! Everything Jesus did, we can do, and greater things than He did (John 14:12). He is our Parakletos – He leads us to a deeper knowledge of the Gospel of Truth, and gives us divine strength needed to enable us to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the Kingdom. He teaches us all things – even reminds us what we have forgotten! (John 14:26). W

Here comes the ripple effect – When The Holy Spirit, through me, touches the world-wide web and boom! A serious jolt that’s out of this world (literally). That’s the only way I’ll manage to be God’s witness to the ends of the earth!

Liquid Love

Wow! When  God revealed this to me, I was utterly amazed. Today I was experiencing blogger’s block, not knowing that when I’m down to nothing, God’s up to something. He made me come up with the above illustration of Matthew 17:5 and I noticed how those center words (underlined) flow like a river; from above. God’s in the business of  revealing heaven’s answers to earth’s questions. This River heals everything that lies wherever it flows.

Now that we know Whom God is well pleased with, ain’t it easy to know how to please God? (Life’s FAQs) Simply follow Christ. You will not go wrong. Read the Word because He is the Word Incarnate (John 1:14). Listen to The Holy Spirit; He’s in you, revealing Jesus day by day. Come on, flow in this River of Love! Only then will you go deeper and deeper, and there you will find your Father – Deep calls unto deep (Psalms 42:7).

He Talks, I Type; I Walk, He Guides!

He died that I may live for Him;

He lives in me that I may move in Him;

He moves in me that I may walk like Him;

He walks with me that I may see His works;

He works in me that I may complete the task;

He completes me that I may be His Body!

He called me, I answered;

He did not force me but gathered.

He talks, I type;

I walk, He guides.

Meet-The-Bloggers Tour!

Nothing’s new under the sun! I’ve taken time to tour other blogs. There’s so much to learn from each other. Getting to know someone’s thoughts makes you feel as though you have actually met them. I’m feeling so exposed right now. There are so many ideas that are being shared. I’ve also met a few like-minded people.

The best way to describe the feeling is using a merry-go-round: getting to see the globe in many angles, through other people’s eyes. We as bloggers should therefore be careful not to misrepresent something, at the same time being free to air our opinions. This is indeed a community in its own. I’m glad to be part of it. If we compare it to the kingdoms of old, we sure know our domain. The big question is, who is our King? (A wild thought).

In here you can be anything you want to be. Content is inexhaustible. Time and space aren’t limitations. It’s very easy to detour as you go from one read to another. Hahaha. If you’re not careful you could skip meals (and baths too!). As I return to the adventures of blogging,  I hope to meet with you and get to know you. Thanks for taking the time to read.
