Working From ‘Home’

Working from home is not new to me, but this time round, it has shed some amazing light in my Christian journey. Let me explain:

Jesus Christ came to earth and stayed a while before dying and resurrecting to save it. Why so? He wanted to demonstrate to us how we should live. This is what He had to say, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself. He does only what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son does.”John 5:19. Isn’t this a perfect example of ‘Working From Home?’ He left heaven and came to earth, but could only do what He saw being done in heaven. He was coming from heaven, thus heaven is His home. Jesus Christ worked from ‘home’ while on earth.

Before leaving earth, He said, “Occupy/Engage in business, until I come.”Luke 19:13. If Christ, who was 100% man and 100% God while on earth, still needed to consult heaven before making a move, how much more we CHRISTians? We’ve got to knock on heaven’s door. God gave us an assignment and Christ demonstrated how we’re to go about fulfilling it. We’ve got to go back ‘home’ and work from there.

Again, we know that, “Our business/citizenship is in heaven and from there we look for the Life Giver, our Lord, Jesus Christ”Philippians 3:20. This means that we cannot achieve any results here on earth, if we do not consult heaven. We’ve got to stay ‘home’.

And how are we supposed to do this? First and foremost, we need to be aware of our positioning. “For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in heaven because we’re united with Christ Jesus!”Ephesians 2:6. Once we accept Christ, We’re with God 24/7. We’re ‘home’.

Our Father says, “Come now, let us reason together. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”Isaiah 1:18. God has an open door policy (open heavens) in His relationship with us. “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”Hebrews 4:16. Nothing can separate us from the Love of God. Romans 8:35-39. Hallelujah! We’re home to stay! Praise the Lord!

Dear friends, our need for God will keep growing more and more as this world keeps getting closer to the end. We can not afford to live a natural life anymore. The supernatural should be our new normal. We’ve got to work from home (heaven), now than ever before. That’s the only answer to these problems that we’re facing. “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”Matthew 6:10. There’s got to be a difference between we (the church/bride of Christ) and the world. It’s time for Maneno na Matendo (faith and action). We’re in this world for a time such as this – Esther 4:14. The home we’re supposed to be working from has no fear and uncertainty. The home we’re supposed to be working from has all the solutions. Heaven is our home. Let us work from home.

Are you yet to call heaven your home? I invite you to say this simple prayer: Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Romans 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Now I surrender. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, feel free to contact me and I will guide you as Christ guides me. Follow Nations Arise Revival Ministries for your Daily Devotions and grow to be more and more like Christ. God bless you.

The Day of The Lord

Crisp, Clear and Concise.
The Final Trumpet.
Greatest Reprieve!
Closer To The End of The Earth.

Let’s begin by summarizing the 3 steps before eternity checks in:

  1. Creation: It all began with the creation story. Adam was created by God solely for the purpose of him worshiping God. He used to commune with God face to face. The idea was for him to fill the earth with the likes of him and his beloved wife  Eve. Unfortunately the devil managed to trick him (as well as his wife) and sin checked in, giving birth to death. They could no longer appear before God as they used to. Man lost authority over the earth to the devil. Sin brought a curse into the world. Every one born of Adam was therefore born with this decaying nature, destined to suffer and ultimately die.
  2. Redemption: Thanks be to God for He already had a plan (He always does). God knows the end from the beginning. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Knowing that everyone born of man could not save man from this eternal death, He sent Jesus Christ, born of His Spirit, blameless in all His ways, to save the world. That is why Jesus had to be born of a virgin: so that He doesn’t possess the blood of man, which is already defiled. Did you know that in the fetus’ blood does not mix with it’s mother’s blood? Read more on this here. He came and died, went to hell and won back the keys to life. He did it all for you and I. Hell was never created for any man to occupy. The Holy Spirit came after Jesus returned to the Father so that He may guide us into all Truth – showing us how to become more like Jesus, that we may show the world the Word that came to set us (them) free.
  3. Salvation: God created us with self will. He calls us, by His Spirit, to His own and gives us the final choice to make. Salvation undid the curse and brought a blessing into the world. The only way to enter the Kingdom of God once again is through accepting the Lordship of Christ: allowing the blood of Jesus to wash away our sins and His death to speak for us, that we may attain eternal life – a place with no disease, no sorrow, no war, no sadness, no devils, no heartache. A place we shall forever worship our Father and our God.

The day of the Lord is near: a day when Jesus, our groom, is coming for us, His bride, to forever dwell with Him in eternity. This day is drawing nearer and nearer with every passing day. Isaiah Chapter 13 describes this day vividly (I hope to come up with a movie on it one day). Let me summarize it: God has prepared His army by placing His eternal purpose in all who have accepted His call. By prayer, fasting, witnessing and living a God – Centred life, we advance the kingdom of God, and He in turn draws the world to Himself. Why so? Because this earth is passing away. Scientists have proven that the ozone is depleting, the water bodies are exceeding their boundaries, earthquakes are coming, etc. In short, creation is groaning for the manifestation of the Sons of God. (Romans 8:19). Great destruction is coming and it will consume every fallen thing that will be on earth then. The earth will be destroyed and a new heaven and a new earth will arise. Should we panic? Not at all! God’s got us covered.

Action Plan:

  • Let us walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16)
  • Let us speak boldly of the Gospel of Christ because it is the only power that can overcome the world. (Romans 1:16)
  • Let us go boldly to the ends of the earth because God is going with us and is giving us victory (Deuteronomy 20:4)
  • Let us do all that the Father tells us to do because everything works together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called by His name (Romans 8:28)
  • Let us gather together to pray and fast because it is the Lord mobilizing an army for war (Isaiah 13:4)
  • Let us remember to give God all the glory because He is the One causing us to triumph in His Name as we spread His Word – Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Prayer:

Thank you Lord for creating us, Thank You Lord for redeeming the world and saving us from death and into eternal life. Thank You for empowering us for the calling You have appointed us for. Thank You Holy Spirit for revealing Christ to us and guiding us in every step that we take. Lord You said, ‘Occupy till I come’. May our occupation be a fruitful one: winning souls, prospering in body and in soul, overcoming the evil one, doing what we see our Father in heaven do and making use of each and every resource you have made available to us, including social media.  I speak victory all round. I speak brotherly Love. I speak divine health. I speak salvation to every creature. I speak in the Name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Liquid Love

Wow! When  God revealed this to me, I was utterly amazed. Today I was experiencing blogger’s block, not knowing that when I’m down to nothing, God’s up to something. He made me come up with the above illustration of Matthew 17:5 and I noticed how those center words (underlined) flow like a river; from above. God’s in the business of  revealing heaven’s answers to earth’s questions. This River heals everything that lies wherever it flows.

Now that we know Whom God is well pleased with, ain’t it easy to know how to please God? (Life’s FAQs) Simply follow Christ. You will not go wrong. Read the Word because He is the Word Incarnate (John 1:14). Listen to The Holy Spirit; He’s in you, revealing Jesus day by day. Come on, flow in this River of Love! Only then will you go deeper and deeper, and there you will find your Father – Deep calls unto deep (Psalms 42:7).

He Talks, I Type; I Walk, He Guides!

He died that I may live for Him;

He lives in me that I may move in Him;

He moves in me that I may walk like Him;

He walks with me that I may see His works;

He works in me that I may complete the task;

He completes me that I may be His Body!

Data

Heal & Rejuvenate

There was a time the word ‘data’ was a plural word meaning “facts or pieces of information”. Of recent times, the word data is one way that device users can gain wireless access to the internet.

In my world however, Data is a synonym that stands for:

Daily

Anointing

To

Attract

Reversing Verses

Daily

Every new day comes with its own agenda. A daily renewal is therefore required so that your software can be current in this dynamic times. You therefore have to make sure that your antennas are facing the right direction so that you may receive the right signals. Begin your day from finding out what’s in store. Spend time with God in prayer. That’s the only way you will receive the Rhema Word. Forget about yesterday. It is gone and will never return. This is the day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it! You have been rejuvenated today. Daily Healing is more like it.

Anointing

This is the wireless enablement received once our data has been activated. Anointing comes from the Triune God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. I love using the 3G analogy to portray God and 4G to portray my partnership with Him. God and I make a good team! You have been anointed. Empowered is more like it!

To

Once you have been anointed, what next? You are able to:

  • Preach the Gospel to the poor
  • Heal the brokenhearted
  • Preach deliverance to the captives
  • Preach recovery of sight to the blind
  • Set at liberty them that are bruised

You have been appointed. Service is more like it!

“For God is working in you giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” – Philippians 2:13

Attract Them To Christ.jpg

Attract

The anointing makes all the difference. This is what attracts the creation to the Creator. No human effort is required. All we have to do is lift God up by fulfilling His call over our lives; by going out and bringing in every creature; by daily walking according to His ways. Jesus is very attractive. Once He is allowed to dominate in our lives, the world automatically acknowledges Him as Lord and Savior! Our lifestyle speaks of our Life – Giver. (Read more of this at http://www.rhema.co.nz/the-word-for-today). Jesus conquered all when He died on the Cross. He bore all our iniquities and sicknesses; he paid the price that we might live; He did it all for you and I.You have been adorned. Beautified is more like it!

Once you surrender to this gospel, do not just preach the Word. Live it! I conclude by echoing St. Francis of Assisi’s words, “Preach the Gospel at all times and if necessary, use words”. You’ve got all the ‘Data’ bundles required for a stable connection: the medium connecting earth to heaven. Your subscription period is eternal. Your Service Provider changes not! He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). When you feel as though the connection is dying, this does not mean that the anointing is any less. It actually means that your battery is running low. Charge yourself up by praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 20) and your network bars will be full again; ready to decode heaven’s language according to the needs thereof.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Security
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4

God – Ultimate Security

There are times when we feel as though we’re all alone. These are the times we wanna give up. Everything seems to be caving in on us. This is when I practice my 2 – 3 – 4 rule (Psalms 23:4 – The numbers are sequential thus easy to memorize). You could also term it as Hope, Step and Jump!

  • Hope in God

  • Step Out

  • Jump for Joy

Jump for Joy.jpg

What more security do we need? If a mere sparrow doesn’t end up in the wrong hands, how much more you and I? (Matthew 10:29) Focus on Him, the Author of our lives and all these other things shall become non – issues. Nothing is impossible with God. Go ahead! sign up for that task which seems difficult. He has gone before you. He has set angels to watch over you (Luke 4:10). There is light at the end of that tunnel you are in right now.  All you need to do is look up, go deeper and lift Him higher!

I Killed My Old Man

The Cross – My Cusp
Oh Yes, I did!

You ask me why?

There was no other choice. It was either he dies or I die. He was a slave, quick to anger and didn’t have a future. He was physically strong for sure, but I needed more than that; I needed supernatural strength. He was prone to diseases, failure, hurts, destruction and ultimately death. I had to end his life before he dragged me to eternal death with him.

the-old-man-is-dead

You ask me how I did it?

My Brother helped me out. We hang my old man on a tree. Yes, we crucified him! It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. The Cross became my Cusp – the dividing line between my old man and I.

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

I began to live the day my old man died. WheColossians+3v3+by+Alyssa+Reevesn he was alive, I was decaying since I had a sinful nature. Then my Brother came and showed me the filth in my old man. He made a way for me by being The Way, The Truth and The Life! He introduced me to Father. He gave me a new body; one that can accommodate Dad in it; How cool is that! Can you imagine He sent the Holy Spirit to guide and protect me on a real-time basis. What more could I ask for. He’s the greatest Resource you could ever have.

You ask me whether I regret it?

Not at all! He was the reason for all my problems. He was full of generational curses and sin. He was born into this world through Adam’s lineage: certified failure. When I was informed that I have to be born again, I knew for sure that he was too big to go back into mom’s womb, thus had to die.

You ask me what I gained from killing him?

New CreatureEternal Life! I was born into a new family. I became a new creature; totally transformed. This was instant in my spirit, a continuous process in my soul and will be perfected when this body eventually returns to dust. This is the sweetest journey I have had to take; one of knowing my new identity each day; one with assured victory; one with my Father in me and I in Him. He holds me up that I may not hit my foot on a stone. He leads me in the way I should follow. He is teaching me how to be like Him; ever Loving, never-failing. He sent His only Son to take my place on the cross (the Brother I told you about earlier; the one who helped me kill my old man). He did it all for me, that I might live.

Dying to selfMy old man did not want to die. This is the reason why there’s war in my head at times. What should I therefore do? I must take up my cross daily. everyday comes with its trials, problems, sicknesses, temptations, persecutions and so on. To hell with all these (actually that’s where all these belong). I have to consciously remember who I am and why I am still here. It is my responsibility to unlearn the things taught to me by my old man. I have the answers to all life’s issues in the Word and the Word dwells in me through the Holy Spirit. He came and made my heart His home. He became everything I am and all I know. Oh what a joy! Without Him I am nothing. In Him I live, in Him I move, in Him I have my being!

So what exactly am I saying?

My old man died. My new man was born. I can’t keep silent. It is the best thing that ever happened to me. My new man cannot die. He is hid in Christ Jesus. He who is in me is greater than he who’s in the world (1 John 4:4). He will never leave me nor forsake me. He holds my future by knowing my expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).

Now here’s the Good News!

What He has done is not for me alone. He did it for you and I. I’d be selfish to go on this eternal vacation on my own; walking on the streets of gold, owning an immortal body, a place with no sorrow, no sicknesses, no death, and so on. Guess what! He already made a reservation for you and went ahead and paid the full price. What are you waiting for? Raise your tree! Kill your old man! If you already have, take a seat next to me (follow me, like and share this post) as we journey the world-wide web with the intention of making him known in all corners of the earth. Isn’t this the reason we’re still here? to show the world His goodness that He may draw them to Himself?Draw men to Himself

ゆけん Turns 4 Today!

Today’s blog post is about YUKEN (ゆけん). You ask where this name came from? Well, I made it up. His father wanted a Japanese name and all the available ones didn’t sound right to me. I therefore looked up the words ‘brave’ and ‘courageous’ and found Yu (ゆ). It also means: superiority, tenderness, friend, qualified, help, abundance, masculine, permanence, reason and assist. After a challenging pregnancy, it was inevitable to add the words ‘healthy’ and ‘strong’ i.e. Ken (けん ), and voilà! Yuken was created.

Today’s blog post is about Shujaa (Hero).

  • The boy who beat all odds and made it to planet earth
  • The boy who beat all odds and enjoyed the benefits of exclusive breast milk regardless of the fact that he never got to learn how to suckle.(Express is a word used to mean something sent fast, without any stopovers being made; expressing breast milk on the other hand was a life and death kinda situation for Yuyu and I).

Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on [a]serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.

Luke 10:19

Today’s blog post is about Yuyu. This boy brings tears to my eyes. I work day and night to ensure he plays night and day. Although his looks are nowhere close to mine, except for our hairs (or lack of it), Yuyu reminds me of me. The boy is content with whatever you hand to him.

He is such a selfless boy. How do I know that? He loves Spider-Man more than he loves himself. He is such a mommy’s boy. How do I know that? As ‘woof woof’ is to dog, ‘mommy mommy’ is to Yuken. Not a minute passes by before I am mentioned. He’s such a male species. How do I know that? He tells me I am smart even when I’m in a towel. He’s so God – sent. How do I know that? There’s nothing I did to deserve him.

Today’s blog post is about Yuken turning four. As North, South, East and West denote the four directions life can lead you to; As Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer denote the four seasons the world can have you experience;  As you turn four, may you be the fourth member at the decision-making table that’s occupied by God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit on issues pertaining to your life. May you mirror God’s goodness all round. God bless you my son (I bless you too).

Deuteronomy 28:11-13

11 The Lord will make you rich. You will have many children. Your cattle will have many calves. Your land will give good crops. It is the land that the Lord promised your ancestors he would give to you.

12 The Lord will open up his storehouse. The skies will send rain on your land at the right time. And he will bless everything you do. You will lend to other nations. But you will not need to borrow from them.

13 The Lord will make you like the head and not like the tail. You will be on top and not on bottom. But you must obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today. Be careful to keep them.

Happy 4th Birthday!

Suffering The Child: Your Responsibility

What a joy it is to train a child on a certain task and see them perform it as expected. These little creatures watch us closely and before long, they begin to behave like us. It is therefore important that we take precaution in our daily happenings for the sake of transferring only the right attributes to them. The same applies to the principles of the Kingdom of God. Just as your child will learn how to walk, talk, smile and even clap by watching you and others do it, so does he or she learn of and about God.

Matthew-19-14-Suffer-Little-Children-To-Come-Unto-Me-brown-copy

Picture of hands courtesy of David Niblick at Imagebase

Have you ever wondered why God used the word ‘suffer’? Does it sound too strong to be used in the same sentence as the word ‘child’? The first time I came across this verse, I was perplexed. I know that there are other translations that have used different words in the place of ‘suffer’, but this is purely for the sake of a better understanding to the target audience. After experiencing motherhood, I now support this word completely. It basically means that we have to do what it takes to ensure that these children catch the Kingdom Culture; we have to ensure that they do not miss heaven! Moreover, we have to do this while they are still young, so that we do not regret in the future when it is too late.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

if-we-dont-teach-our-children-who-god-is-someone-7557521

A good example would be potty training. When they are born, children live on diapers as much as milk. There’s no greater joy to a mother than a child who has done a poop. At this stage, the diaper captures fieces; the only communication the infant’s body has with the doctor in case of an infection since speech has not been developed. As soon as the child is able to speak, potty training commences, and this process is very delicate as well as very important. Did you know that delayed toilet training puts children at a higher risk of developing bladder problems such as daytime incontinence, bed wetting and recurrent Urinary Tract Infections? For more information go to http://www.parentingscience.com/science-of-toilet-training.html. If potty training is not done at home, it will have to be done in school and the parent will have no control of the methods used. This may lead to low self esteem. In the same breath, if we don’t teach our children who God is, someone else will teach them everything that He’s not.

Deuteronomy

Teaching our children the ways of God does not necessarily entail a blackboard, some chalk and a stick. These little beings catch anything and everything. What does this mean? Our lives should mirror Christ. Monkey see, monkey do. The same God who has entrusted these kids to us is more than willing to guide us on this process, remembering that he is the Author and Perfecter of our lives, He is the Beginning and the End, He knew us (our children included) even before we were born. Our work therefore as parents and guardians is not only to nurture our children into physical successes, but also to unfold the Kingdom Agenda to them and help them find where they fit into it and together as the body of Christ we will be able to reconcile this world back to God.

Work At Home Pleasures

Laugh At WorkYou get to make funny faces during a board meeting. You get to wear what you want. You get to spend time with your offspring. People who work from home have an easier time eating healthy and striking a manageable work-life balance. Eating healthier and having more time to spend with your family can help you feel less stressed, which will make for a happier more productive workday.  A 2011 study from Staples found that employees who worked from home experienced 25 percent less stress. Employees also reported that they were able to maintain a better work life balance, as well as eat healthier.

Cofounder of SimpleTexting, Felix Dubinksy, notes the health benefits of being at home, “It’s much easier to keep a healthy diet while eating at home. You save a lot of stressful hours that would have been spent commuting. You can construct a comfortable work environment for yourself. Spend more time with family.”

Working Home PleasuresFor many, the physical proximity to family and the convenience of being at home are tremendously comforting. For parents it can be especially pacifying to know that they are very near to their children and available should they be needed for any reason. https://www.bayt.com/en/career-article-1601/

Alessandra Ceresa, Marketing Director of Greenrope, finds he can balance his work and life much easier when he works remote, “Because much of what we do is not constrained within the hours of 9-5, I am able to go to the gym in the middle of the day, take a walk, do errands. When I take these sorts of breaks, the moment I sit back down to work I am focused. My life is balanced, because I get all of my work done, and have time to actually live my life.”

Balozi Studio TingsOften with long commutes and anywhere from 1 to 3 hours a day spent getting to and from the workplace both physical and mental health are adversely impacted; the former as the gym hours are usually the first to go and the latter due to the stresses associated with both the commute and the workplace itself. By working at home the commuting time saved enables you to resume physical exercise, to go for a long walk for example before and after work or to join a local gym. Removed from the stresses and distractions of the workplace and working independently in their own preferred environment at their own pace, professionals are often a lot happier and a lot more productive.

The best part of it is you get to save on on many hidden costs associated with going to work. These include costs of commuting, car wear and tear, fuel, road taxes, parking, office rent as well as indirect costs such as expensive professional wardrobes and the dry-cleaning of those. Often you can also save on daycare expenses!

Work Home ProEverything has its pros and cons. Working from home is not for anyone. It takes a lot of dedication, self-control and discipline to motivate yourself to persevere in working at home alone over the long run without succumbing to the distractions and losing drive and momentum. Often a partial arrangement where you report into the office once or twice a week is the optimal arrangement as it allows for close interaction with colleagues and supervisors and ensures you remain in touch with company developments while still permitting you the comfort and convenience of working from home.

Lastly, Kevin Kruse says, “You can do your job wherever and whenever you want…you can even sit in a beach chair with a cocktail in hand for all I care…as long as you get our desired results.

A survey summarized in the Microsoft whitepaper, Work without Walls, indicates the top 10 benefits of working from home from the employee viewpoint. In reverse order: https://www.forbes.com/sites/kevinkruse/2012/12/18/benefits-working-from-home/#115d39fb1d4c

10) Environmentally friendly (23%)

9) More time with family (29%)

8) Less stressful environment (38%)

7) Quieter atmosphere (43%)

6) Eliminate long commute (44%)

5) Less distractions (44%)

4) More productive (45%)

3) Avoid traffic (47%)

2) Save gas (55%)

1) Work/home balance (60%)

Well, there you have it. As I conclude, allow me to whisper this hidden benefit: On a lighter note, you can take a comfortable snooze when your eyelids have sworn not to part ways and not get a warning letter while at it. This is because the bed is right next to you. All I can say is do not put yourself in a box. Think far and wide. Bring the world to you. Explore the internet. Challenge yourself. Seek to learn more things, even those that are not in your line of duty. You have one life to live that you will have to account for when all is said and done.

In short, ‘Jiachilie’

One Dream Giver-God of Second Chances

One thing’s for sure, a fresh start ain’t as easy as it sounds. I’m talking of beginning all over again. Be it a relationship, or a business, a life skill or a course, something you had mastered to the point of performing it with your eyes closed. The story of my life. I must say there are two ways to look at it. Either sit back and count your losses or rise up, dust yourself and find a way of getting back on the saddle. I definitely went for the latter. I repeat: it wasn’t easy.

The good thing about starting over is having a chance to better the closed chapter. If it involves a spouse, you appreciate him/her more, learning from the one who is no more. If it’s to do with business, you become wiser in picking your partners, saving the seed, re injecting the capital, signing contracts for safety reasons and so on.

God is serious when He says He knows your expected end. He is also serious when He says you shall eat the good of the land. God is serious when He says the works of your hands are blessed. No doubt, He was very serious when He made Himself your Paraclete. Most of all, He is the Author of second chances, proving this by taking your place on the cross so that you could live again! I’m forever grateful!

Surround yourself with visionaries. Completely disconnect yourself from those who made you fail, those who brought you down and those who don’t believe in you. You have no apologies to make to them. Care to dream. Manage the consequences of your past failures bravely and maturely. Learn from them and move on. Spend time with your loved ones. Go out of your way for a friend. Join a support group if you have to. Run for your life, if you can’t walk for a cause. If both are not possible, Keep Calm and Ogelea (@ogeleaafrica) – meaning, ‘Relax and take a swim’.

I’m not refuting the fact that sometimes I can be sad and blue when I remember the time invested in a relationship that went to the dogs, cash that I toiled for and lost to a swindler, career that was cut short for one reason or the other and even a relationship with God that was not nurtured to fruitfulness. All these feelings come but I have chosen not to have a pity party. Instead I have chosen to thank God that my second chance came in my youthful years; I have learnt to be slow but sure, thinker before leaper, and before I forget I have also learnt a lesson: not to judge people because it is neither my job description nor my business. On the contrary, I choose to use the same comfort I have received from my Father to comfort those going through a similar path as mine. ‘Hii maisha ni kusaidiana’ (you’re alive for the purpose of giving a helping hand).

There’s so much to live for, so much to celebrate, so much to party about, so much to be thankful for. Embrace the second chance you’ve got and make The Giver proud!

Yuyu & Tutu

“Pride and Joy.”

Yuyu received this new toy and immediately shouted,’Tutu!’ I couldn’t believe it. Every time I get him a gift, I always try to find a name for it before giving it to him. As for this one, I was ready to introduce him as Mr. Truck. Thank God the boy already had a name for his new found friend. He’s such a sharp boy with an active imagination. Meet Yuyu and Tutu!

I could never ask for anyone more precious than Yuyu. Ever since I got him, he has brought so much joy to my life and others’ lives too. Yuyu is a smiling machine, a joy bringer, a go getter, a miracle baby and most of all, a love child. He gives me a reason to rise up and keep searching for daily bread every morning when he wakes up and says, ‘Mommy, tatabix (weetabix), and ensures I have a good night sleep every night when he gives me a peck on my lips while saying, ‘nanyt‘.

We have fought various wars together, the first being nausea right after conception. This was followed by kicks and blows in my tummy every time he would hear drums being played in the office, and a massaging feeling when I would take a swim. Right after birth, we went through hell! Yuyu had a problem pulling out mummy juice since he was pretty tiny, despite the fact that I had milk; so much that I earned myself the name friesian cow. We emerged victorious all the same. Here he is now. My Pride & Joy. I wouldn’t trade him for anything.

A mother’s love for her son is pure and special.
It can not be broken or reckon with.
It’s a kind of love that softens even the hardest of hearts.
Love between mother and son is strong and visible from the sea.
It brings peace of mind and drys sad tears.
It can bring a man to his knees and make him weep.
A mother’s love for her son is not hidden or shy,
but is ever lasting that grows stronger each day.

I am so grateful to God for this chance He has given to me to love on this boy. He has equipped me with all that I need to achieve this task. He has assured me that He knows the plans He has for both of us and since the expected end is known, I’m always eager to know what lies ahead of us.
The journey is sweet though I must admit that there are rough terrains. Every tear that has fallen due to Yuyu is so worth it. Every sweat that has trickled down my brow and smudged my makeup cannot be regretted.
Yuyu you shall live up to your name: Yuken (meaning brave, courageous and healthy).  That is why your middle name is Shujaa – a hero. You are just the first of many to come. For now, it’s my pleasure to know you. I LOVE YOU!
